A wide range of reactions is normal
Shock, disbelief, rage, grief, numbness, physical symptoms such as nausea or shaking, and even brief relief that a suspicion is confirmed can all occur, sometimes within the same day. None of these reactions mean something is wrong with you; they reflect a genuine threat to safety, identity, and trust.
Reactions can change quickly and return unexpectedly
A wave of calm does not mean the hardest part is over, and a wave of intense pain weeks later does not mean you are going backward. Ordinary reminders — a song, a date on the calendar, a text notification — can bring a reaction back sharply. Members often find it helps to name what they are feeling out loud or in writing rather than judging whether they "should" still feel it.
